WHO experts headed to Panzi district in the southwestern province of Kwango to deliver essential medicines and diagnostic kits that will help analyze the cause of the disease.

WHO stated that laboratory tests were carried out to determine the cause of the disease and said that more information would be shared when it became available.

According to the news in Ruters, WHO Africa Regional Director Matshidiso Moeti said, “Our priority is to provide effective support to affected families and communities. All efforts are continuing to determine the cause of the disease, understand the routes of transmission and provide appropriate intervention as soon as possible.”

Based on data from the Ministry of Public Health, WHO has reported 394 cases and 30 deaths in the Panzi health zone so far.

IT CAUSED THE DEATH OF 143 PEOPLE

Local officials reported earlier this week that 143 people died in the region in November due to an unknown disease.

According to the World Health Organization, symptoms of the disease include headache, cough, fever, breathing difficulties and anemia.
