My survival highlight 2025 only starts in May, but you can already create characters from today

Dune: Awakening has finally announced its release date. Unfortunately it takes time – but if you don’t want to wait, you can take a look into the game from now on. Only playing is not possible yet. Meinmmo editor Benedict Grothaus is happy.

What kind of game is that?

When is Dune: Awakening? Dune: Awakening starts on May 20 and not in the early access, but directly in the 1.0 release. There will be no years of “public beta”, as is often the case with survival games. The game will cost 49.99 euros.

The release only takes place on Steam for the time being. PS5 and Xbox are still following, but there is no date here. Accordingly, information about the cross play is also missing. Here you will find all information about the release, content and platforms of Dune: Awakening.

    If you don’t want to wait and take a first look into the game, you can still do it. The character creation is now available and you can let off steam with different backgrounds and slider for appearance. The notorious penis slider does not exist.

    You can then take the characters into the game on May 20. There is also a benchmark test that shows you some scenes from the game. This allows you to test whether your hardware is sufficient for the game or whether you have to switch to an RTX 5090. Participants from the benchmark test receive a code for a knife cin in the finished game.

    Dune: Awakening is different from any Survival MMO that you know

    I am an absolute survival fan and spent thousands of hours in Conan Exiles, Fallout 76 and Co. One of my first games ever was beached from 2003. I’ve been looking forward to the Dune game for years.

    Funcom recently invited me to Oslo so that I can finally watch awakening live. In my opinion, about six hours: The new Dune game is very different from any Survival game that I know and really makes you in a mood. What makes the game so special include:

  • Classes like Bene Gesserit and Mental that determine the playing style
  • A story line with quests that leads you through the game-similar to the trip from Conan Exiles, but as a real quest series as in an MMORPG
  • Heap of NPCs for action, learning skills or simply chatting
  • Guilds and PvP fights for important resources
  • Fractions where you can collect a reputation
  • A final game system with the Landsraad around intrigue, politics and power

    • There are of course classic survival elements such as crafting and thirst. However, water is the only resource that you really need to “survive”. You get this on … questionable ways that even the developers shock.

    Personally, I am looking forward to Dune: Awakening and even if it is not an absolute blockbuster, it will be a highlight of the year for me. Admittedly, the game becomes quite special, but my taste is in a nutshell. If you prefer it classic, find the best survival games 2025 for PC, PS5 and Xbox
