From April 1 to 9 at the Halle Tropisme in Montpellier, discover an event to better understand the issues related to sustainable food.
How to raise awareness among young people, teachers and more broadly the general public about the challenges of sustainable food? This is the objective of the exhibition “My plate, my planet“, which visitors can visit in Montpellier from April 1 to 9 at the Halle Tropisme.
This traveling exhibition is organized within the framework of “Planet aliment”, an interdisciplinary project of scientific mediation on the food of the world in the service of sustainable development. Its ambition is to “travel” “indoors, outdoors or online”.
“Show the limits of the current model”
Imagined by the Occitanie Research Institute for Development (IRD) in partnership with the UNESCO World Food Chair, the exhibition offers avenues and elements of response to meet the challenge of global sustainable food. Several issues are addressed, such as health, food and nutritional security, the environmental footprint of what we eat, the challenges and issues of agricultural production, innovations, etc.
The exhibition is presented in the form of 17 panels compiling 3D drawings reflecting the latest scientific advances. The visuals are supplemented by excerpts from interviews carried out beforehand with around thirty researchers. “The objective is to show the limits of the current model, the diversity of food systems and the interdependence between the different sectors involved. It also highlights the importance of our consumer choices but also that of collective choices and in particular public policies to be implemented”detail the organizers in a press release.
