Released from police custody for medical reasons, Jacques Doillon is the subject of three new complaints for rape and attempted rape, Le Monde informs us in a major investigation.
The case began with the actress’s speech Judith Godrèche and has brought new complaints in its wake. While we learned of the indictment of Benoît Jacquot this Wednesday, Jacques Doillon (The Funny Girl, The Little Criminal) is the subject of three new complaints reported in the columns of WorldContacted by the media, Jacques Doillon’s lawyer did not wish to comment.
The daily newspaper reveals that since the complaint filed by Judith Godrèche on February 6, new testimonies have been sent to Le Monde against the filmmaker, and that three have resulted in complaints. These are the ones that led to Jacques Doillon being held in police custody for 48 hours on July 1 and 2, lifted for “medical reasons” before the procedure was transmitted to the Paris prosecutor’s office “to assess the scope and modalities of the follow-up to be given”, a judicial source reported to AFP this Wednesday.
But what do these new testimonies say? According to Le Monde, the plaintiffs are reporting events that allegedly occurred between 1980 and 2012, when they were young and dreaming of entering the world of cinema. Among these people is Joe Rohanne, who had a daughter with the filmmaker who was 43 years her senior. The events that this trans and non-binary personality is reporting allegedly occurred while they were still socialized as young women, and do not seem to be covered by the statute of limitations. Joe Rohanne is reporting three rapes (one while they were sleeping), assault and battery, and psychological violence. “He always took me as he pleased, my body was at his disposal,” they comment in their testimony to Le Monde, recounting that one assault resulted in a visible bite.
Another complainant, named Hélène M in Le Monde, wrote in her diary that she “was sodomized by Jacques Doillon” when she had just turned 16, and now believes that “there was coercion, things I didn’t want to do” during their irregular relationship. The third complainant, actress and director Aurélie Le Roc’h, reported an attempted rape from which she emerged “humiliated, completely traumatized.”
Accusations of Judith Godrèche and Anna Mouglalis
let’s remember that Jacques Doillon is the subject of other accusations: Judith Godrèche accuses the filmmaker of rape, which allegedly occurred during a work session for The 15 year old girl (1989), while Isild Le Besco says she was removed from a shoot after refusing his advances. For her part, actress Anna Mouglalis reported a sexual assault in 2011. Jacques Doillon considers this last accusation “grotesque”. Finally, Jessica Tharaud reported a sexual assault to Paris-Match, when she was 14 years old.
The filmmaker has always denied the accusations made against him, particularly those made by Judith Godrèche. On April 10, Jacques Doillon denied the accusations against him, and mainly those made by Judith Godrèche, assuring that he had “never promised a role to anyone or taken advantage of my position as director to obtain sexual favors. If I were the horrible guy that Judith Godrèche says I am, her call for witnesses should have generated many more testimonies.”
