Using a motorcycle, the shooter approaches a car and fires several shots on the busy street in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
According to SVT’s information, the man who was shot to death is 34-year-old Mustafa Aljiburi, alias “Benzema”.
He has been part of the innermost circle of Foxtrot and appears in several investigations connected to the ongoing wave of violence. He has previously been convicted of, among other things, arson, serious fraud and several drug offences.
Mustafa Aljiburi has previously been close to Rawa “Kurdish Fox” Majid. But after Majid was reportedly arrested in Iran, Aljiburi distanced himself from him and tried to start his own network.
Suspected shooter arrested
A Swedish man in his 20s has been arrested in Iraq on suspicion of Monday’s fatal shooting. The man has previously been convicted in a Swedish court for serious weapons offenses and several drug offences.
According to SVT’s sources in Baghdad, the suspect has been “interrogated all night” by Iraqi police who are said to be interested in names of helpers. Among other things, they are looking for people who were in a car in connection with the shooting and filmed the course of events.
Mustafa Aljiburi has been a priority name on the enemies’ death lists. An explosive device has been found at his former civil registration address north of Stockholm and several people close to him have had explosives targeted at them.
Faked his own death
In October, information and images were spread on social media which purported to show that Mustafa Aljiburi had been killed in Iraq. But it was soon revealed that he staged his own death in collaboration with the hired torpedoes assigned to assassinate him. In a live broadcast on social media, Aljiburi taunted and threatened his rivals.
The police in Sweden fear revenge after Monday’s fatal shooting.
