“Must be a screw loose”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Sweden got off to a nightmare start at the Biathlon World Cup.
The big scapegoat was Sebastian Samuelsson, who pushed himself away completely.
– Something has happened with the weapon, he says himself to SVT.

Biathlon World Cup started today with mixed relay and Sweden was good until the fourth and last leg. Then the great nightmare began for the Swedish part and above all for Sebastian Samuelsson.

The Swedish fiasco

The Swedish jump on the last stretch completely blew itself away and destroyed all hope of a medal in the WC premiere by incurring three penalty rounds.
– Terrible. It is a meltdown, stated the SVT expert Bjorn Ferry in the broadcast.

In the end it was a ninth place for Sweden and Samuelsson was completely saddened after the finish.
– It’s a lot of work. In lying down, I’m very active, I make a good first move and go hard. I notice pretty quickly that I miss a lot, but don’t notice anything that should be different. Continues to shoot but misses more and the baton is over. It is only when standing that I notice that something is really wrong with the weapon. When standing, I hold still and feel good, but miss anyway. Then I also start to think that now something is wrong with the weapon, says a very disappointed “Sebbe” to SVT.
– Now when I talk to the coach afterwards, my shots lying down are so rough. Something has happened to the weapon, it must be so.

Samuelsson’s words

Samuelsson would rather just forget about this race but now has to examine the weapon before the upcoming WC races.
– It is not certain that we will find anything. It is enough for the weapon to have been hit somewhere. A lot could have happened that I don’t know about. But something has happened. It’s so rough and I’m not close to hitting, so I’m not going to shoot. I’m not nervous or anything. The shots I shoot poorly are the ones I hit, he tells SVT.
– First of all, you have to try to go through the weapon and see what has happened. I know I don’t shoot like this but it’s very, very sad because we had a good chance today. And I wanted to win a medal. It’s very hard, says a bitten Sebastian Samuelsson.

Even the TV expert Helena Ekholm agree that the swedish team must go through the gun after the race.
– Now they have to check the weapon. Are there any screws loose? Is there something that causes it to be moved? Now come training days, where they have to check if it’s right. You have to move on and see that now it feels safe again, now it works again, she says in the SVT studio.
