Pynarello’s concerts are always a combination of old and new pieces, from hundreds of years old until the ink is barely dry. Composer and artistic director Julian Schneemann has composed a piece especially for the anniversary concert, The Moving Staircase: “When I think of Tivoli Vredenburg, I always think of that large escalator in the main hall. When you step onto that escalator you don’t actually know where at a classical concert, a techno party, a pop concert or folk session. That’s what I love about this place and I tried to incorporate that into my piece.”
