Action fans get their money’s worth: One Piece: Red is not supposed to be a musical

Kochi explained to us at this year’s Japan Expo:

This year we are concentrating on the songs. I avoid the term musical, it’s just about music. […] It’s one of the key elements of One Piece: Red. So, as a fan, you can follow the movie, but you can also follow the songs themselves. Just like a concert. So you can enjoy a double experience.

That sounds like a mixture of action and singing experience. So far, however, it is difficult to say in what relationship the two will meet. However, the background story about singer Uta (Japanese speaking voice: Kaori Nazuka, vocals by Japanese musician Ado) and her father Shanks (Japanese voice: Shûichi Ikeda) seems a bit too complex to be told with songs alone. One or the other brawl is to be expected.

When is One Piece: Red in cinemas?

One Piece: Red is due out on October 13, 2022 appear in German cinemas. It will be shown both in the Japanese original with subtitles and in the German dubbed version.
