The legendary music producer Quincy Jones has passed away. He was 91 years old.
Jones spokesperson Arnold Robinson says the music icon died Sunday in Bel Air, Los Angeles, with family by his side.
“Tonight, we are devastated to announce the passing of our father and brother Quincy Jones. And while it is a tremendous loss to our family, we pay tribute to his magnificent life and work and know that there will never be another like him.” , the family says in a statement.
Quincy Jones produced Michael Jackson’s album
Quincy Jones broke through as a jazz musician but later made a name for himself as a pop producer and then moved freely between different genres. He produced, among other things Michael Jackson’s albums “Off the wall” (1979), “Thriller” (1982) and “Bad” (1987). He also produced the famous charity single “We are the world” in 1985.

Quincy Jones’ first record was released in 1955
He also released a long series of solo records, the first of which, “Jazz Abroad”, came in 1955.
Jones also wrote film music and was active as a film and television producer, among other things he produced Steven Spielberg’s “The Color Purple” in 1985 and the television series “Roots” in 1977. He was nominated for an Oscar seven times and on November 17 this year he would have received an honorary Oscar for his efforts in the film.
In 1994 he received the Polar Prize and he has won a total of 28 American Grammys.

Quincy Jones had a number of Swedish connections and visited Sweden many times. He was married to Swedish Ulla Andersson from 1967-74 and the couple had two children – daughter Martina and son Quincy III, who is also a music producer.
In the early 50s, Quincy Jones got to know the Swedish jazz musician and trumpeter Bengt-Arne Wallin and he also formed close friendships with artists and musicians who Barbro “Lill-Babs” Svensson and Arne Domnérus.
Quincy Jones turned 91 years old.
