Museum London is welcoming the public back with four days of free events.
The museum’s Spring Launch Week includes a local trivia night, an open house, a wrap for two exhibitions and a showcase of London’s musical talents from Thursday May 12 through Sunday May 15.
The events are free, but registration is required online at museumlondon.ca or in person.
Spring Launch at Museum London includes:
– Trivia Night, hosted by Jonathan Feddema, tests visitors’ knowledge of London in four rounds of trivia with multiple choice questions, a music round and photo clues, all with a London theme; Thursday, 7 p.m.
– Words & Music Downtown features four London artists — Pablo Tovar, Richard Gracious, Sara Mai Chitty and Zahra Habib — who have each compiled playlists of local musical talents. They will be asked by London’s music development officer, Cory Crossman, to talk about their lists and then each asked to invite two artists to the stage to perform; Friday, 7 p.m.
– Museum London open house where the public can explore its spaces that can be rented for weddings, corporate events or other activities, including tours, a talk about weddings, a dance demonstration, film, a Light of East Ensemble performance and a Simple Reflections concert featuring Freddy Almarza. Registration is required and will be capped at 120 visitors; Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
– A reception marks the close of two exhibitions: From Remote Stars, curated by Kirsty Robertson and Sarah EK Smith, and 20 Works, curated by Brian Meehan. The public will be able to meet the curators and explore the exhibitions for the last time. Registration is required and will be limited to 150 people; Sunday, 2 p.m.
