On Thursday, the rain poured down in Switzerland’s capital, Zurich, where the road World Cup and para World Cup in cycling are taking place. In connection with the storm, several riders crashed and Muriel Furrer was taken to hospital by ambulance helicopter.
Furrer suffered serious head injuries and it was stated early on that the situation was critical.
Now the International Cycling Union, UCI, announces that the 18-year-old has died from his injuries.
“In connection with Muriel Furrer’s passing, the international cycling community loses a cyclist with a bright future,” writes the UCI on its website.
