The father was found dead in his home just outside Borlänge in November last year. Shortly afterwards, the man, who has been in custody ever since, was arrested.
According to the indictment, the man had stabbed the father 19 times with a knife, including in the head and neck.
A forensic psychiatric examination performed showed that the man had acted under the influence of a serious mental disorder. Due to the mental disorder, there must also have been a risk of relapse into serious crime.
The man will remain in custody until the verdict becomes final. In addition to forensic psychiatric care, he is sentenced to pay damages to the father’s brother.
