An 18-year-old man who was detained on suspicion of murder in Sandviken has been released by the district court.

The man was detained on suspicion of having shot dead a 25-year-old man on January 11 this year.

The 18-year-old was arrested a short time after the fatal shooting and was detained on January 15. Actually, he was supposed to be in custody until February 12, but his lawyer requested that the district court examine the suspicions after half the time.

– My client and I thought it was such a weak suspicion that it was urgent to have it tried, says the man’s lawyer Johan Mellgren to Arbetarbladet.

According to the district court, the 18-year-old cannot be considered a probable cause suspect for the murder and he was set free.

The prosecutor does not share that assessment and is now considering whether to appeal the decision.
