“We notice that there is tension there,” says the Utrecht alderman for economic affairs Susanne Schilderman. Earlier, the government also made an allowance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) because of the sky-high energy costs, but that arrangement will only come into effect in April. Too late, Schilderman thinks. “For many small entrepreneurs it may already be too late. They first have to get through that cold winter.”
