Municipal pools set to reopen Feb 7

Gable Rees Rotary Pool and Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool will welcome back swimmers on Feb. 7.

Following the recent provincial announcement, indoor pools are allowed to reopen at 50 per cent capacity, stated CKRecreation in a release.

The recreational swimming schedule will be online Monday and registration will continue to open one week prior to the respective swim time.

Pool users will notice several changes at the pool this year, including the following:

– Memberships and passes are back;
– Swim times have returned to normal, meaning more time in the pool;
– Fees have returned to normal;
– Vaccine QR code is required.

Winter H20 swim lessons, which includes semi-private and private lessons, will also be available starting the week of Feb. 7. Lessons will be offered at both locations and will be viewable online and open for registration Monday.

“We are happy to be able to open our doors once again to Chatham-Kent,” said Kelly Emery, director of child care, early years and recreation, in a release.

“We know our indoor pools provide much needed recreational options to our community, especially during the cold winter months. We are excited to see all of our members and families back in our facilities soon.”

CKRecreation’s regularly scheduled spring session will be viewable online starting Monday, with registration opening Feb. 14.

Pool operations will continue to abide by all provincial and local COVID-19 regulations, including reduced capacity, social distancing and face covering requirements. Swimmers are encouraged to review a full list of FAQs prior to their visit to the pool at chatham-kent.ca/recreationswimming

Registration can be completed online at chatham-kent.ca/recreationswimming or by calling 519-360-1998.
