The Toronto Event featured speakers, panel discussions and workshops, Along with opportunities to meet with provincial government representatives.
Chatham coun. Alysson Storey waits with West Kent Coun. Lauren Anderson, Public Works Director Ryan Brown, and Public Works Manager Jordan Gray.
Storey participated in a panel discussion about us-Canada tariffs and how municipalities are approving uncertain economic times.
She recently represents Chatham-Kent and Canada in Washington, DC for discussions with American Local Government Counterparts.
“The Tariff Issue has been one of the biggest topics of conversation throughout this conference and it’s Clear Municipal Officials Are Deeply concerned about the impact on Both their Communities as a Whole, but also on their municipal budgets,” she said.

“Many municipalities are reconsidering ‘Nice to do’ Projects, Taking a hard look at Municipal Finances and Assessing Options If there are jobs in their community and Increased Number of Residents Are Out of Work and Might Need Support. While Delegations COULD Traditionally Request Meetings with Ministry and Associate Ministry, Storey Said This Year There Were Fewer Opportunities due to the Post-Ection Transition.
“Thankfully, Our Request to the Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks was grined and we had a very productive meeting with minister todd mcCarthy where we busht forward our request for support in assessing and addrassing training in chatham-kent, normal callly caled brownfields, Affordable HOUSING SITE INTO, ”She Said.

“We are in Desperate Need for More Affordable Housing and these sites are Often in Great Locations, Are Fully Service and avoids Having to Expand Onto Prime Agricultural Land.”
Storey was also asked to participate on panel discussion on road safety to discussion her experience advocating for concrete median barriers on highway 401.
“This project is well underway now and Saving Lives, so I was honored to have the opportunity to discuss that initiative,” she Said.
There were sessions on Asset Management, Green Infrastructure and How To Create Designs to Withstand More Extreme Weather.
Storey Said the Aim was to explain the importance of “Asssing our vulnerabilitities in infrastructure to climate change, and what are the consequences of potential failure.
“Not to mention the Importer of Using Climate and Weather Data to Prepare for Risks and Prioritize spending on Those risks.”
