Municipal calls off strike – parties agree

Kommunal has accepted the mediators’ offer and will sign a new collective agreement with the employer organizations Sweden’s municipalities and regions and Sobona.

According to Kommunal, the new agreement contains “necessary” and “long-term” improvements for attractive welfare.

– Of course, Kommunal would have wanted more, but the agreement is a clear step in the right direction, says Malin Ragnegård, chairman of the association Kommunal in a press release.

“Now the fight continues”

The new agreement involves, among other things, wage increases of SEK 985, of which SEK 450 is an individual guarantee.

– Now the fight for higher wages and better working conditions for the members of Kommunal continues, says Malin Ragnegård.

The agreement will apply for 12 months and will affect approximately 550,000 employees.

Kommunal announced a strike on April 8 after stalled negotiations on a new collective agreement. The strike would take effect from tomorrow morning if the parties did not reach an agreement today.
