The Munich Security Conference is meeting just as the escalating situation in eastern Ukraine raises concerns about Russia’s intentions in Ukraine.
Discussions at the Munich International Security Conference are taking place amid intensified confrontation, with Russia concentrating its forces on Ukraine and demanding, among other things, a halt to NATO’s military expansion to the east.
The president of the Republic Sauli Niinistö will take part in a panel discussion starting at 5 pm on East-West relations and European security architecture.
The British Foreign Secretary will also take part in the debate Elizabeth TrussPrime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki and the U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar. The discussion will be moderated by the Emeritus Chair of the Wilson Center Incubator Jane Harman.
The situation in eastern Ukraine has been further intensified as Russian-led separatists seek to paint a picture of Ukraine’s intentions to invade, and the US president Joe Biden says the Russian president Vladimir Putin made the decision to attack Ukraine.
