Multiple loads laid after Walpole traffic stop

A 51-year old Walpole Island man faces multiple charges after a man fled police during a traffic stop.

Members of the Walpole Island Police Service conducted a traffic stop on Delcies Land, on the evening of Feb. 6, provincial police said in a release Tuesday.

The driver, who was known to police, fled on foot, but was taken into custody after a brief chase, police said

A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and other drugs.

A 51-year-old Walpole Island man was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (five counts);
  • Failure to comply with a release order (nine counts);
  • Possession of an item for use in trafficking a substance;
  • Obstructing a peace officer.

The accused was ordered into custody following a bail hearing.
