Pekka Virta is no longer returning as a hockey coach.

Has a long career as a hockey coach Pekka Virta not going back to coaching, MTV Urheilu told on Wednesday.

Virta coached Rauma Luko to the men’s Finnish champion in the 2020-2021 season. During the golden age, Virta got sick with corona and spent 48 days in the hospital, 27 of them in the intensive care unit.

After the lock, Virta still coached in SaiPa and Sweden. The decision not to take any more training pills is related to health reasons.

– I think a long day is the worst for me. I always have a pulse a little higher than a normal person. It doesn’t feel like this, but if we’re here for eight or twelve hours, I need a little more rest in between, Virta said to MTV.

Virta has also coached at KalPa, TPS and Ässi, among others. Over the years, he piloted KalPa to silver and bronze at the WC.

Today, Virta, 55, works part-time as the sports director of TuTo, who plays in Mestis.
