Former national team soccer player Roman Eremenko has signed an agreement with the domestic football league FC Honga, reports MTV’s sports (you switch to another service). Last season, Eremenko played for HIFK, which was relegated to the First Division.
Eremenko, 36, has played in Italy, Ukraine and Russia during his long career, but his career came to a halt for two years when he was banned from competition after testing positive for cocaine in the fall of 2016.
After his suspension, Eremenko continued his career in Rostov.
Midfielder Eremenko has represented Finland in 73 men’s international matches. He has been awarded the Footballer of the Year in 2011 and 2014 by the Finnish Football Association and the Footballer of the Year in 2011, 2014 and 2015.
