M@rel, the free online retirement simulation service, has been updated to take into account the changes introduced by the reform implemented last year by the Government. You can use it to calculate your rights.
Imposed by the Government in 2023 without a vote from the National Assembly, the very controversial and criticized pension reform introduced major changes in the French system. The new rules will have a significant impact on the (almost) entire population, whether new and future entrants to the labor market, or workers at the end of their careers, some of whom have seen their date departure postponed even though they were only a few months from the finish line.
As is often the case with reforms that are intended to be simplistic, things actually become more complex and it is now difficult to get a precise idea of the concrete impact of the reform on one’s own retirement. Fortunately, the Retirement Union, a Public Interest Group (GIP) bringing together the different management organizations, provides all citizens with an online space bringing together all the information on their career and offering a simulator to estimate their future retirement: it’s the famous Retirement Info.
M@rel: a constantly improving tool
The Info-Retraite site offers several particularly useful services for obtaining information and knowing your retirement rights. The site provides free access to a Retirement Account, via a connection via France-Connect, which brings together several very practical modules, such as a complete history of one’s career in the form of an easy-to-understand timeline, summary tables of the quarters contributed by period and by fund, or even a simulator to estimate the amount of your future retirement pension based on retirement age and various parameters, such as the birth of a child or a particular career choice.
Called M@rel, the Info-Retraite simulator proves to be very effective and fair, because it is based on all the data available from the various management funds to which you have contributed throughout your career. From the summer of 2023, M@rel had been updated to take into account the changes brought about by the reform of the retirement system, such as the new legal retirement age and the minimum number of contribution quarters. And during the second quarter of 2024, the simulator received new significant modifications, such as the integration of progressive retirement and combined employment-retirement systems, the addition of increases for children in special plans or the possibility to add additional quarters for internships and public utility work.
And M@rel should further improve and enrich over the months, taking into account other modifications introduced by the 2023 pension reform, such as those on early departure linked to disability or arduousness work. Completely free and constantly evolving, the Info-Retraite simulator already delivers reliable and very precise estimates of your future retirement pension, and constitutes a valuable decision-making tool to prepare as best as possible for this significant change in everyone’s life.
