A number of environmental party politicians want to see former culture minister Amanda Lind as a new mouthpiece.

They point to her experience and way of meeting people.

The 32 environmentalists write in a debate article in Aftonbladet that Lind “is clear that the Green Party’s policy is about both people and the environment”.

They point out that the climate and environmental issue is the Green Party’s flagship issue, but add that a fair green transition presupposes secure welfare for people throughout Sweden.

Among the 32 who signed the debate article are eleven municipal councillors, several regional politicians and two former spokespersons, Eva Goës and Lotta Hedström.

Amanda Lind currently sits in the Riksdag for the Green Party and, in addition to the Minister of Culture and Democracy, has also been a municipal councilor and party secretary for the MP.

The party’s economic policy spokesperson Janine Alm Ericson and Annika Hirvonen, first deputy group leader for the MP in the Riksdag, are also running for the position of female spokesperson for the party.

Recently, the MP in Gothenburg supported Janine Alm Ericson’s candidacy.

The former MP spokeswoman Märta Stenevi resigned last winter for health reasons. Shortly after she announced her resignation, there was a work environment investigation into her leadership that showed deficiencies in the work environment.

The party will choose Stenevis’ successor on April 28.
