MP mouthpiece on the import of Russian gas – which is increasing: “Incredibly irresponsible”

Now the political pressure is increasing for Sweden to stop the Russian fossil gas that month after month continues to arrive via boat to Sweden. The opposition parties did not mince their words during today’s parliamentary debate. Green youth and Green students also protested against Sweden financing Russia’s war in Ukraine. – It is simply too bad. There is a large boat with gas that is coming in right now. In the past, both oil and gas have arrived at Swedish terminals, says Anton Bylin, spokesman for Gröna Students. So far this year, six boats loaded with Russian gas have called at Nynäshamn. This means that gas imports are increasing. Last year at the same time, only two had arrived. Then the assembled Riksdag agreed to unilaterally stop the Russian gas – that is, not to wait for a joint EU decision. Now the government has changed its mind. – We want to prevent this Russian gas from coming to Sweden. But if these sanctions are to be effective, they must take place at the EU level, so that we do not get a situation where 27 different member states act in completely different ways, says Johan Forssell (M), Minister of Foreign Trade. “Incredibly irresponsible” During today’s Riksdag debate, criticism came from the Social Democrats, the Center Party, the Green Party and the Left Party. Among other things, the Green Party said that it is next to impossible to get the entire EU to agree to ban Russian gas. – If Prime Minister Forssell thinks we should wait for Victor Orban to change his mind, then we will continue to send money to Russia’s war fund every year until he gets Hungary to move. We believe that it is incredibly irresponsible and also goes directly against what the Riksdag has decided, says Märta Stenevi (MP), spokeswoman for the Green Party.
