Mozambique’s opposition leader, who led demonstrations from abroad, returns to the country | Sports in a nutshell

Mozambique’s opposition leader Venâncio Mondlane plans to return to the country next Thursday.

Mondlane, who was a presidential candidate in the fall elections, has led the two-month-long election protests in Mozambique from exile, in which hundreds of people have died.

Fearing for his safety, Mondlane fled the country at the end of October. According to the election authorities, the ruling party Frelimo won the elections organized in the country at the beginning of October.

The opposition and election observers have claimed that the elections were fraudulent.
