With Avatar 2: The Way of Water, exceptional director James Cameron will soon bring a next-generation blockbuster to the cinema. And just before the start, he takes the opportunity to to settle some old scores. Five years after a Saturday Night Live skit at the expense of Avatar, he shoots back. And his target is Ryan Gosling.

Avatar traumatized Ryan Gosling says he’d rather get some fresh air.

In 2017, Saturday Night Live poked fun at the Avatar logo, its font close resemblance to the standard Word font Papyrus Has. In the skit, Ryan Gosling developed real trauma due to the avatar designer’s creative laziness.

After five long years, director Cameron now jokingly reacted to the mockery. Slashfilm quotes him from an Empire issue:

Ryan Gosling should get some fresh air instead of fussing over briefs. Move out of your mother’s basement, Ryan!

The director confirmed that he’d heard the Papyrus mockery over the years. He didn’t know it was such a conventional typeface, but he still likes the logo.

When will the sci-fi blockbuster Avatar 2 be in cinemas?
