Mouse in the food interrupted the SAS flight: “Probably happened again”

A flight between Oslo and Málaga had to cancel its flight on Wednesday and land in Copenhagen instead. The reason? A mouse jumped out of a food package. – It’s an unfunny little story, says Tomas Gustafsson, who is chairman of the Flight Safety Committee at the Swedish Pilot Association.

Oslo-Málaga is a regular flight between the Norwegian capital and the Spanish port city. On the afternoon of Wednesday, the SAS flight departed as usual with destination Malaga, but it wasn’t “vamos a la playa” for very long, because when the flight was over German airspace, the travelers were in for a real surprise. A live mouse jumped out of one of the food packages that were distributed.

It has happened before and will probably happen again. From an aviation safety perspective, it is not an urgent danger, says Tomas Gustafsson, who is chairman of the Aviation Safety Committee at the Swedish Pilots’ Association.

The flight was cancelled

When the information that there was a mouse on board reached the cockpit, the decision was made to turn the plane around and descend for landing in Copenhagen. But there are no strange things, says Tomas Gustafsson.

Purely emergency when this happened, I think it was about a mouse that runs loose on board creating anxiety among passengers and can cause a mess. I understand that the decision was made to cancel the flight and go down and land, says Tomas Gustafsson.

Tomas adds that the routine after an incident like this is to search the aircraft and look for the little crab. What happened to the mouse is not clear, but the travelers had to change flights and then continue the journey down to the Spanish port city in a rodent-free plane.
