The desire for a connecting route was there years ago. Yet it took about seven years before it actually came about. The 23 kilometer route passes through the territory of the municipality of Soest, Utrechts Landschap and insurer ASR. “It was a real puzzle,” says councilor Treep, “because how do you get a route that leaves the quiet areas alone and does not cross all kinds of walking paths and riding trails? And it was also quite a permit process.”
