Quickly after the race, Verstappen donned a world champion cap and sat in the back seat of a luxury car for the photographers. Then several cars drove in procession around the track in a lap of honor.
Sylvester Stallone waved off the race
Spectator Sylvester Stallone, 78, waved off the race which was won by George Russell, who was in pole position, ahead of seven-time title winner Lewis Hamilton who started in tenth.
Before the night race, the race was decided at 23.28 local time, the conditions were clear. If Verstappen was ahead of Lando Norris, the title would be clear. Verstappen was fifth while Norris came in sixth.
Three races remain in the season.
