Motorcyclist, 23, killed in crash in Waterford: Police

A 23-year-old motorcyclist from Oxford County was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Waterford on Friday morning.

Norfolk OPP say the crash between the motorcycle and an SUV occurred at just before 7 am on Thompson Road East.

The motorcyclist died at the scene.

The driver of the SUV suffered what police describe as non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

Thompson Road East between Duncombe Road and Cockshutt Road was closed for several hours.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and are asking anyone who was traveling on Thompson Road East around the time of the collision to contact the Norfolk County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122. Traffic levels in Norfolk were high on Friday with thousands of motorcyclists converging on Port Dover for the Friday the 13th motorcycle rally in the lakeside town.
