Motorcycles, ANCMA: registrations start in September

(Finance) – The growth of the national motorized two-wheeler market continues. In fact, September also ends with a + 20.8%, to 27,087 units, on the same month last year. This is what we read in the monthly note on the trend of registration data for motorbikes, scooters and mopeds released by Confindustria Ancma (National Association of Cycle Motorcycle Accessories).

In detail, the month of September saw volumes grow by a fifth (+20.84%) compared to last year’s values, reaching 27,087 units sold. Scooters drive sales, with 14,230 vehicles registered and a growth of 26.01%. The performance of motorbikes was also excellent, closing the month with an increase of 19.56% and 11,208 registered vehicles. The only discordant note is that of mopeds, which for the fourth consecutive month recorded a decline, in September equal to -5.72% with only 1,649 units sold.

The cumulative market in the first nine months of the year is running towards 300 thousand unitsregisters 285,847 vehicles, pare to a performance of +17.06%. Scooter volumes grew by a quarter (+24.63%) compared to last year, totaling 147,455 vehicles; followed by motorcycles with 123,118 units and an increase of 13.48%. The moped segment is still negative, losing 12.12% compared to the same period in 2022 and putting 15,274 vehicles on the road.

The electric market also performed well, closing September with a convincing +11.28% and 1,006 vehicles sold. Both scooters (+13.37% and 619 units) and mopeds (+10.79% and 349 units) performed well. However, the cumulative value remains in negative territory, with a decrease of 19.01% and 10,329 vehicles.
