The MotoGP World Championship reaches its fifth grand prix of the season with the Portuguese GP. The Portimao circuit will be the scene of the first race on European soil, although the races will again suffer changes in their schedules due to the fact that they coincide with the Emilia Romagna F1 GP.
Enea Bastianini arrives in Portugal as the new MotoGP leader after winning his second race of the 2022 season at the GP of the Americas. The Italian had already won the opening GP of the year in Qatar. Rins and Aleix Espargaró complete the virtual podium of the championship. In Moto2, Celestino Vietti dominates the general standings after having also achieved two victories out of four races held. And in Moto3, Dennis Foggia is at the helm of the World Championship.
