MotoGP | Álex: “To save things, I stay at home”

MotoGP Alex To save things I stay at home

Álex Márquez crashed in FP4 and did not take part in qualifying, so he will start last in the MotoGP race of the GP of Catalonia. Before that, he must receive the medical OK that authorizes his presence on the Montmeló grid, because he has been somewhat affected.

-Will you be able to run?

-Tomorrow I have another medical check-up in the morning. There is nothing broken. I have bruises everywhere and a broken tooth, but luckily I walked out, which is the most important thing. I was giving my one hundred percent, as always, so let’s keep going, try to do the race, even if we start far behind, to help Honda and give all the information we can.

-How was the fall?

-The way we were going, honestly, before FP4 I already knew that qualifying would be difficult, because I was going to the limit, with no sensations. It was a fall at a point where I did not expect it. It has suddenly locked up and I have lost the front end. I haven’t seen the fall yet, because I haven’t had time, but I was shooting, as I always do, because I never keep anything to myself. It is one of those falls that make you lose a lot of confidence.

-Where do you mainly have the blow or pain?

-On the elbows and a little on the radius, I have a strong blow, but what worries me most is the head. That’s why tomorrow I’ll have to be realistic. Now my head hurts, which is normal, but I think tomorrow I won’t have any problems.

-It seems that with this bike you can’t go one hundred percent, because when you do, it fails you, right?

-Yes, but it doesn’t enter my head to reserve me, because then we would be last. I always try to give one hundred percent. We were testing things at the time and it was making rhythm. I had Aleix in front of me, who was doing a good pace, without missing a lot and I’m never going to hold anything back. To save things, I stay at home.

– Is that the attitude also for the race?

-Exact. At half throttle, never. If I have the medical OK, it is to go out and give one hundred percent.

-What did you see when shooting behind Aleix?

-I already rode yesterday in FP2 and from turn three to five I was already losing half a second, so I couldn’t do anything else.
