Motion sickness, also called naupathy, would affect more than 3 million people in France, and in particular, the youngest. The Boarding Ring® company has developed glasses to combat this disorder.

Motion sickness is a common condition that affects several million French people. Among them, children, many of whom suffer from this disorder causing nausea and vomiting. “Motion sickness is due to the sensory conflict between what the eye perceives and what the brain and inner ear interpret” explains Antoine Jeannin, CEO of the company Boarding Ring®. “We have developed a pair of glasses to give the eye back the reality of movement thanks to the liquid located in the rings” continues the business manager. This pair of glasses is marketed on the company’s website as well as at some opticians and pharmacists. Today, the company has decided to go further by developing a specific model for children aged 0 to 9 years old.

Ringo, the “magic glasses” that fight against motion sickness

“Before the age of 9, the visual field is not yet complete, particularly in terms of peripheral vision” develops Antoine Jeannin. “So young children needed a specific pair of glasses to meet their needs. The technology remains unchanged, the only difference is in the frame, which adapts to the more restricted field of vision of young children” continues the CEO of Boarding Ring®. “We were able to have our glasses tested on around 30 children and some call them ‘magic glasses’. Within minutes, the symptoms (nausea, headache, vomiting) of motion sickness disappear.”

Designed to be “visual crutches”, these glasses can be worn when the troubles appear or in anticipation of a trip by car, boat, plane or train. A natural solution without any contraindications which allows children to no longer be sick during journeys.

Ringo travel glasses are pre-order on the Ulule website at the price of 64 euros. The company hopes to market the product by June when they will be displayed at 79 euros.
