In a post on Reddit, user possibly66t says that his wife appears to have “fallen victim to the confusing names of Xbox consoles.” She wanted to make her children happy and buy a console so they could play Killer Klowns from Outer Space. The husband had previously explained to his wife that the game doesn’t work on the old Xbox One the family owns. For this you need one of the new consoles – either the Series X or the Series S.
The mother had discovered a supposedly good offer on Amazon for a “new” Xbox console along with the game and snapped it up. But disillusionment followed on Christmas morning: the children enthusiastically unpacked the stylish white Xbox and the game, but the joy didn’t last long.
The game could not be started because the woman had bought an Xbox One X instead of an Xbox Series X. She was convinced she had gotten the right console.

In the comment, Teddy293 lists the variety of Nintendo handhelds that can also cause confusion. Reasonable-Treat4146 then responds that at least most games are compatible between devices. “In the end, it was more about which console you could afford and which one you liked better,” he adds.
