In Tokyo, traders took the lunch break in good spirits, looking back on gains of 1.4 percent for the Nikkei 225 and 0.9 percent for the Topix.
It didn’t go quite as well in Hong Kong, but the Hang Seng index was still clearly positive after a few hours of trading at 0.7 percent.
The Seoul Stock Exchange’s Kospi was also clearly up, +1.3 at lunchtime, while Taiwan’s weighted index rose 0.3 percent.
Mainland China went against the flow, with Shanghai losing 0.2 percent during the morning, while Shenzhen stayed mostly in plus territory, before sliding down to the 0 line again.
