“You should know that most of these people barely know what the PKK or Turkey are. They are just people on the left who want to create publicity, provoke and destroy the Swedish NATO process,” writes Bildt on Twitter.
He himself recently returned home from Ankara where he attended President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s installation on Saturday.
“The real terrorists hide – and are taken care of,” continues Bildt.
Sunday’s demonstration is organized by the Alliance against NATO network and was held in support of democratic forces in Turkey and against Swedish NATO membership. In total, the demonstration gathered around 500 people.
“PKK is the people, and the people are us” was heard as a recurring slogan.
From the Turkish side, they have previously demanded that the demonstration be stopped. Swedish authorities, on the other hand, have stated that a demonstration that is covered by Swedish constitutional protection is not affected by the new terrorism law, even if people express sympathies for the PKK.
