Mortgages Bank of Italy rates down in December

(Finance) – In the month of December interest rates on loans granted to households for the purchase of homes including ancillary costs (Annual Global Effective Rate, APR) fell to 3.36 percentdown since 3.55 in November, while those on new consumer credit disbursements fell to 9.22 per cent (9.25 in the previous month).

Bankitalia notes it in its statistical publication Banks and money from which it also emerges that interest rates on new loans to non-financial corporations were 3.55 per cent (3.01 in the previous month), those for amounts up to 1 million euro were equal to 3.91 per cent, while the rates on new loans for amounts exceeding this threshold stood at 3.33 per cent. Deposit rates on all outstanding deposits amounted to 0.45 per cent (0.42 in the previous month).

Always in December, loans to the private sector slowed their growth to 2.1 per cent over the twelve months from 3.4 in the previous month. Loans to households increased by 3.3 per cent over the twelve months from 3.7 in the previous month, while the rate of change of those to non-financial corporations was zero against the increase of 2.7 per cent in the previous month.

Private sector deposits decreased by 0.7 per cent over the twelve months after minus 0.3% in November; bond funding decreased by 1.5 per cent over the same period of the previous year after the minus 2.9% in November.
