More winners named at Sarnia-Lambton business awards

More than one Sarnia-Lambton venture received business of the year honors at this year’s chamber of commerce awards.

Chamber officials opted to break the top award at its annual Outstanding Business Achievement Awards into three this year, honoring small, medium and large businesses with trophies instead of one overall winner, said Sarnia-Lambton chamber CEO Carrie McEachran.

The move was about better capturing and recognizing the impact businesses have in the community, she said.

Twelve award winners, from 214 nominees—a record, McEachran said—were named Friday night at an awards gala at the Sunbridge Hotel in Point Edward.

Judges are from outside Sarnia-Lambton, officials said in a news release.

“We really, truly live in a wonderful community and our businesses really are the heart of that,” McEachran said, adding the chamber awards are about recognizing that.

“It’s such an important thing to do this,” she said. “We should be recognizing businesses all year round.”

The sold-out event, the chamber’s 33rd, had about 330 attendees, she said, adding the night was filled with energy and excitement, and praising winners and finalists as an inspiration.

“Really just it’s such an honor to work with and live amongst all of the amazing businesses here in Sarnia-Lambton,” she said.

The winners are:

• Ysebaert Acres – agri-business;

• Brandon Gadd, CanWeb – excellence in customer service;
