More unauthorized people on tracks in Gävleborg: “We don’t have time to brake”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The security measures taken, such as fences and camera surveillance, do not help. In 2021, 145 reports were received by the Swedish Transport Administration about unauthorized persons on the track in Gävleborg. In 2022, that number was 276. The number had thus almost doubled.

– If you trip or slip in the track area, we don’t have time to affect it, says Kim Karegård, train driver and instruction driver in Gävleborg.

Major delays

The consequences can be personal injuries or, in the worst case, death, but it also leads to major delays in train traffic for both passengers and freight trains.

– If the barriers are down then you have to respect that, says Maria Hemlin, operations coordinator at the Swedish Transport Agency.
