As in every shooter, The First Descendant also has several types of weapons. Every player has their own favorites. But one user has now shown that one type of weapon in the game is so bad that even fans should consider playing a different weapon.
Which weapons are we talking about? The user PizzaCrusty analyzed the shotguns in The First Descendant in a post on Reddit. He comes to the conclusion that shotguns are more than useless. In his post, he says that he tested shotguns in the lab in the endgame.
First, he shows that accuracy mods don’t help shotguns. In two pictures, he shows the barely visible difference between a shotgun with and without a mod. You can see the post here:
Regarding the shotgun magazine, he states that no matter how high the capacity value is, the magazine only increases by 1. He also shows a mod that should actually increase the value by 30%. However, this is not entirely true, as user SnooBananas510 points out in the comments. Shell Capacity is supposed to increase the number of bullets fired.
Meanwhile, you can fight your way through crowds with a new descendant: The first new heroine of the Steam hit The First Descendant is finally playable, reminding fans of Guitar Hero
The damage also leaves much to be desired
For his test, the user also looked at critical hits. He found that, with the exception of one shotgun, every single one only has a crit chance of 1%, with the highest being 3%. If you make a critical hit, the damage is only increased by 1.0 to 1.1%, which is actually not at all. So it doesn’t matter if you make a critical hit, it doesn’t change the damage much.
At the end of his post, he stated that snipers and rocket launchers are better than shotguns for killing enemies in close combat – even though that’s what they’re actually designed for. Most users under the post want changes to the weapon.
It seems that the developers still have to tweak the shotguns a bit. However, the developers of The First Descendant are known for addressing criticism quickly. It wasn’t that long ago that a patch buffed a weapon: “Loved it from the first second” – player in The First Descendant is overjoyed that his favorite weapon is finally strong
