Mood disorders, pain, fatigue… Menstruation is rarely a cakewalk for many women. So much so that they have learned to live with it. Indeed, according to a survey carried out by the brand of periodic protections Always, they are more than 80% to find it normal to sleep badly during this period.

The rules are always a somewhat special period for women. In addition to the pain, fatigue and feeling of irritability that some women may experience, they are far from restful…

A survey to assess the quality of sleep during menstruation

Faced with this observation, the periodic protection brand Always looked into the impact of the menstrual cycle on women’s sleep. Through a survey to which more than 1000 women responded in March 2023, the manufacturer shows that a significant proportion of women have cramps at night, during menstruation. In total, eight out of ten women admit a deterioration of their nights and many are those who have accepted it, as a fatality.

Discomfort, fear of leaks… Menstruation bothers women at night

In addition to this result, the survey also looks at the causes that disrupt sleep during this period. Thus, 62% of respondents admit to a fear of staining their clothes and sheets, which happens since 42% of respondents explain that they have already had leaks at night, during their menstrual cycle.

Awareness on the part of men

And the men in all this? They are not left out since the survey also questions them on the issue. In the responses, 72% say they are ready to help their wives, by cleaning and changing the sheets soiled by the rules, in the event of a leak. A way for them to support them, in this rather special time of the month.
