What makes a relationship take hold and, above all, last over time? A new study reveals this little ingredient that makes the difference in these long-lasting couples. Discover it to adopt it quickly!

There is nothing better than good communication within a couple for it to last, this is often what many psychologists confirm. But according to a new study conducted by the University of Singapore, that’s not the only element that matters: humor may be even more essential to cement your relationship.

When there is humor, there is even more love!

The researchers thus examined 216 people, or 108 couples, evaluating their perception of personal humor and that of their partner. Participants then had to evaluate their commitment to this relationship and the level of commitment they perceived in their partner.

According to the results, there would thus be a significant correlation between the level of humor and the level of commitment in the relationship. In other words, on days when individuals produced and perceived more humor, they also reported better quality in their relationship.

The action also works in the opposite direction: on days when a person felt particularly satisfied, engaged, or perceived strong commitment from their partner, they were also funnier and more likely to laugh.

    Whoever laughs will last!

Humor would therefore be the essential ingredient for a fulfilling relationship and would above all be the indicator of continuous and lasting romantic interest. For researchers, this sense of humor present in the couple could even predict the quality of the couple over time:

“Humor can be mutually transformative, promoting relationship quality, and that relationship quality, more importantly, encourages the continued production and perception of humor in established romantic relationships” conclude the researchers.

So if you are looking to strengthen your relationship and your bond, laugh together, it seems a good start.
