More than a quarter of Americans are ready to take

As many as 28 percent of Americans are so alienated from the leadership of their own country that they believe citizens may soon have to take up arms against their government.

One thousand Americans registered to vote participated in the survey. Most respondents agreed with the statement that the US government is “corrupt and organized to work against ordinary people like me.”

The results of the survey reflect the deep division of the country. Only a third of Republicans believed that the country’s democracy works and that the elections held in the country have been fair. 80 percent of Democrats trusted the elections.

Thirty-five percent of independent voters, 33 percent of Republicans and 20 percent of Democrats believed that citizens could soon be forced to take up arms against their own government.
