An additional 700 euros in September: this is what 1.1 million retirees will receive due to a delay in payment by the National Old-Age Insurance Fund (CNAV). Here are the people concerned.

Living in retirement is not always easy. To financially support elderly people with modest incomes, the government has decided to increase the retirement pensions of 1.7 million French people. This increase was initially planned for September 2023 and concerns people who have worked their entire lives with incomes close to the minimum wage. “Nearly 1.7 million retirees will benefit from an increase in their pension, of which around 700,000 will receive a payment from autumn 2023. Subsequent increases will take place in spring 2024, with retroactive effect to 1 September 2023.” announced the government in a press release dated August 11, 2023.

The goal: to allow beneficiaries to receive 85% of the net minimum wage after a full career. But to date, only 600,000 retirees have received an increase in their pension, on average 50 euros per month. The other retirees who should have also benefited are therefore disadvantaged, but not for long.

Indeed, the National Old Age Insurance Fund (Cnav) explains that this delay is linked to the complexity of the files, particularly for beneficiaries who had contributed to different pension schemes. The situation should soon be rectified since from September 2024, the 1.1 million retirees will receive compensation for all the increases not received for a year. If they were to receive an average of 60 euros per month, this payment will be made in one go, or around 700 euros. An amount that is added to the monthly revaluation which will therefore be done every month from September.

If you are concerned by this revaluation not received to date, know that there is no action to take since the Cnav has all the information to identify the beneficiaries. This retroactive payment should delight policyholders for this September return to school.
