More than 50 miners killed in methane explosion in Iran

At least 51 miners have died in a coal mine in the Iranian city of Tabas as a result of a gas accident. The Iranian state media IRNA reported on the matter.

According to IRNA, methane and carbon dioxide were explosively released into two underground sections of the coal mine. The miners suffocated to death.

The death toll may still rise, as the rescue operation is difficult to carry out due to the mine conditions. There were 69 workers in the coal mine at the time of the accident.
