A 35-year-old Brant County man is facing several charges after after a property standards check by municipal bylaw and police officers resulted in the recovery of more than $300,000 in stolen property.
Brant OPP said the man is charged with nine counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, three counts of -possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, altering, destroying or removing a vehicle identification number, unauthorized oossession of a firearm and careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.
On Nov. 21, police were asked to help bylaw officers check a property on Colborne Street East. While there, officers noted several vehicles that were discovered to be stolen.
On Nov. 22, the Brant community street crime unit, with help from Oxford and Haldimand street crime units, searched the property.
Police said eleven vehicles and four trailers were seized, as well as four firearms and a quantity of ammunition.
Some of the property was confirmed to be from recent vehicle theft incidents and others from as far back as 2015, police said.
