More powerful engine and efficient battery for Citroen e C4

Citroen e-C4, which entered the Turkish market in the last quarter of 2022, continues on its way with 2023 model year improvements.

The 2023 model year comes with revisions for the C4, one of the pioneers in Citroen’s electric range in the new era. For the electric version, which has been on sale in Turkey for a while, a higher performance engine and improved battery will be offered to users. With these changes, which bring about a 17 percent increase in range compared to the first version, the 360-kilometer limit will be able to go up to 420 kilometers.

The engine and battery of the new electric power-train systems included in the model will be more efficient and bring along important technological developments. The permanent magnet synchronous electromotor is replaced by a 115 kW or 156 HP hybrid synchronous electromotor. In parallel with this, 15 kW (20 HP) additional power is provided. The engine also produces 260 Nm of torque right from the start. On the battery side, the new 54 kWh battery included in the model has an additional capacity of 4 kWh compared to the previous battery pack. Composed of 102 cells and 17 modules, the compact battery comes with a liquid thermal system for fast charging and a standard heat pump.

The high-voltage lithium-ion battery has a higher nickel content of 80% nickel, 10% manganese and 10% cobalt instead of 60% nickel, 20% manganese and 20% cobalt. This promises better energy density and longer battery life. There is also energy efficiency, which reduces the average energy consumption to 12 kW/h. In addition to the increase in the range, the range increase of up to +30 km in urban use, even at temperatures close to 0°C, is also remarkable. Although the battery capacity of the e-C4 increases, the charging times do not increase. In this context, it will be possible to go from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes with 100 kW fast charging (DC).
