It is the insurance company Dina Försäkringar that has compiled the most accident-prone roads in the past five years.
On average, 5.4 people die in traffic during the Easter weekend, which corresponds to an average of 1.1 per day. The average per day during the rest of March and April is 0.8 deaths.
The days when traffic is heaviest during Easter are Maundy Thursday and Easter Monday.

Motorways worst, but still preferable
The roads that tend to account for by far the most accidents during Easter are the major European roads E4, E6 and E18, with approximately a third of all accidents.
However, this is not a reason to avoid the major motorways. On the contrary mean Victor Öberg, expert in vehicle insurance at Dina Försäkringar, that these routes are preferable. This is because they largely have center rails, which leads to a markedly reduced risk of fatal accidents.

Stress is a contributing factor
According to Victor Öberg, one of the most important things before the Easter trip is to plan your journey and start on time to avoid stress. If you are unsure whether you still have alcohol in your blood the morning after the Easter celebration, it is also good to leave the car standing.
Viktor Öberg also advises on the importance of taking regular breaks, adjusting the speed to the conditions, having the right equipment with you and keeping an eye on the weather report, in order to increase the chances of a successful and safe trip through the Easter traffic.
