    Gonorrhea infection continues to increase. Summer is a vulnerable time and the infection is treacherous. Several can carry gonorrhea without having noticeable symptoms.

    The greatest increase occurs among young adults, but falls are also seen among considerably older people.

    During the first six months of the year, the number of cases of gonorrhea has increased. Compared to the same period in 2023, the increase is approximately six percent, according to the Public Health Authority.

    The increase is noticeable both in Sweden and in other EU countries. During holiday periods, more people are also at risk of being affected.

    – Many have time for holidays, it’s warm times, emotions come and then it is perhaps easier to meet partners, says Inga Velicko, head of unit at the Public Health Agency.

    The largest and most intensive increase occurs in the age group of young adults between 20 and 29 years. But there are also cases of infection in higher age groups such as 30 to 39, 40 to 49 and 50 to 59.

  • Man arrested after suspected serious assault

    The police are alerted to an address in Torsby, when they find a man outside with a wound and several other visible injuries. The man was taken to hospital by ambulance, but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

    A man in his 40s was found in the apartment and was identified as the perpetrator.

    He was later arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault.

  • Fire in apartment building in Uppsala

    During the night of Saturday, the police and emergency services were alerted to a fire in an apartment building in Uppsala.

    Residents at the address had to be evacuated.

  • Missing man found dead

    A man in his 50s who fell from his boat in the Umeälven on July 9 was found dead on Friday evening.

    The man’s boat was found upside down outside Lycksele. The police searched for several days with divers, boats, helicopters and drones without a trace of the man.

    – We received the alarm at 10.30 pm on Friday evening that a private person had found him, says Mattias Borin, commander at police region North.

    The man was found by the water not far from where he is believed to have fallen.

    A man was taken to hospital by ambulance after an apartment fire in Uppsala during the night of Saturday.

  • Jail for child abuse

    A 25-year-old man in Kronoberg county is sentenced to ten years in prison for 28 cases of sexual crimes against children, SVT reports.

    The convicted person remains in custody until the prison sentence is carried out.

The researchers have tested human voices, kid noises and guitar solos to scare the animals away from the rails, reports TTELA.
